Putin says Russia must stop risks of Internet use

MOSCOW, Dec 4 (PRIME) – Russia must nip Internet risks in the bud, President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.

“Everyone knowns what role the Internet plays in life of a modern man and the humankind. There are risks, too…We should keep in mind these risks and, after thinking about them in advance, neutralize them,” Putin said at conference AI Journey during discussion Artificial Intelligence – Main Technology of the XXI Century.

The president said that all risks of personal information and professional data leaks should be avoided.

Like with the use of nuclear power and other achievements used by the military along with common people, it depends on the human being how careful he will be with the opportunities given by artificial intelligence, the president said.

“Many technical solutions are strongly ahead of legislation at the level of a country. I ask the government to submit to the parliament quickly the bills introducing experimental legal regimes to use artificial intelligence technologies in certain industries of the economy and the social sphere,” Putin said.

The president said the country will get digitalized in the next 10 years with widespread implementation of artificial intelligence and big data analysis.

“In fulfillment of our ideas, we should rely on sovereign technological reserves…we should use developments of local innovative companies and startups, our mathematical schools. A huge market is being shaped for technological and scientific discoveries, for their products. We should certainly develop the internal market,” Putin said.

“Billions of rubles will be spent only on the digital transformation of state management and the transition to the electronic format of all state services. Most of them will be provided automatically depending on a situation that happens to a person, in a so-called pro-active mode.”

The president also said that he will meet separately with the regional governors to discuss introduction of artificial intelligence.
